Around the House

It has been a delightful day for Pepper Jax. He loves being outside and chases the birds and squirrels. He also likes to just lay down in the grass and watch these critters doing their thing until it gets too much for him and he has to try and catch them. And, sadly for the few birds, he has caught the birds and killed them. While it is hard to believe, I suspect they never had a chance once he had them in his sights

My lily flowers have been beautiful this year. I have seldom seen the colors so intense and the details so crisp. The common ditch lilies have been nice and abundant, as usual, but the rest have been outstanding.

The fly on this lily caused me to turn and decide to try and capture it against the bright yellow color. You can click on the flower and see and enlargement and decide if it was worth trying or not.

Rose of Sharon

Brookville seems to be an ideal location for this particular species. At least I have had great success in growing them from scratch. And the color of this bush or tree is the most unusual I have ever seen. The Rose of Sharon produces a white blossom with a deep red center that bleeds into the white. It is from a tree that I made by taking a small limb off the parent bush and sticking it into the ground. Then I kept pulling off leaves and sprouts until it formed a trunk. Now, it looks like a tree and is 8 to 10 feet tall. The parent bush was removed as it was becoming too large for the location it was in.

Paw Paw

Paw Paw tree. I hope it will bear some fruit next summer. I have three of them planted. If the wildlife likes the fruit then that will be good. I don't know if I can keep all three of them but it depends on how big they get.
